LIGA–Space for Architecture is an independent initiative founded in Mexico City by Carlos Bedoya, Ruth Estevez, Victor Jaime, Wonne Ickx, and Abel Perles. Since its founding in 2011, LIGA–Space for Architecture has focused mainly on individual exhibitions by architects or architecture studios promoting emerging architecture in Latin America. With LIGA–Archives the organization expands its existing decades-long history of exhibitions by Latin American architects Through its programming work, LIGA identified a number of valuable historical archives that are often difficult to access or relatively unknown to a larger audience. In many cases, these are family archives, or archives of small foundations with limited resources to disseminate the work. Through the creation of a digital platform, LIGA seeks to provide access to these valuable historic materials held by these often  under-resourced archives. Further, the platform hosts public programs grounded in the archival work.

Wonne Ickx studied civil engineering and architecture at the University of Ghent, Belgium and Urban Studies at the Centre for Metropolitan Studies (CEMET) in Guadalajara, Mexico. In 2006, he founded PRODUCTORA in Mexico City, together with Abel Perles, Carlos Bedoya, and Victor Jaime. PRODUCTORA has received many awards for its work, including the prestigious Oscar Niemeyer Prize for Latin American Architecture. Ickx has taught architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD); Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT); University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); Rice University; Princeton University; and several universities in Mexico. He is cofounder of LIGA—Space for Architecture, an independent platform that promotes Latin American architecture in Mexico City since 2011. He publishes his writing frequently and is part of the editorial board of Arquine, the leading architecture magazine in Latin America.

Ruth Estevez is a Spanish contemporary art curator, writer, and critic. She is the director and curator of AMANT Foundation, a new art space in Brooklyn opening its doors in 2021. Estevez was the director and curator of the gallery at REDCAT, Los Angeles. From 2007–11, she served as the chief curator at the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City, where she curated various exhibitions and projects with artists such as Mark Manders, Guy Ben-Ner, Matt Mullican, and Fernando Ortega amongst others. In 2010, Estevez cofounded LIGA—Space for Architecture, the first space in Latin America devoted to the critical reflection and presentation of architecture and urbanism. Estevez has written extensively for various exhibition catalogues and art publications. Estevez holds a master's degree in art history from Mexico’s National Autonomous University. She was selected as part of the curatorial team for the 2019 Sao Paulo Biennale.

LIGA—Space for Architecture is an independent platform, founded in Mexico City in 2011, that promotes Latin American contemporary architecture through exhibitions, conferences, and workshops.
